Title: Sunrise manips
Setting: The first screencap is, I believe, of Spike right before he says, “So you’ll give me what I want. Make me what I was. So Buffy can get what she deserves.” But I think it looks similar to Spike in the final scene of “Intervention” too, and upon reflection I don’t mind. The second screencap is of Buffy as she’s about to say, “What you did, for me, and Dawn … that was real.”
Title: Spike Wins the Soul in Kitten Poker
Setting: “Life Serial”
Notes: Whoops, it’s late! I started posting this before midnight, I promise…
Major props to maryperk73703 for the irresistible prompt and to the_wiggins for betaing this thing into the night and gifting me with a stack of thoughtful comments taller than the poem.
Well, I say poem. This feels only borderline poem-y to me, but the poetry magnets made writing simpler in some ways, and I wasn’t going to do sentences.
Title: Dragons Required
Notes: I reworked my submission to this round’s banner contest as a 900×250 px story banner. It’s up for adoption. (It’s been adopted.)
Title: Life Serial limerick
Notes: What would a “Fool for Love” anniversary be without any
bloody awful poetry? :) To make sure we have at least a little of that, here’s a tiny little limerick (which is also the longest piece of fiction I’ve completed in the last three months, yay!).
She’s neither a shop girl nor a schoolgirl.
She’s a fighter, commander, and doer.
She’s a creature of dark,
and this demon bar
will for sure be the right place to woo her.
ETA: this is, of course, halfway found poetry, so credit to David Fury or Jane Espenson or whoever wrote “You’re not a schoolgirl. You’re not a shop girl. You’re a creature of the darkness. Like me.” – Life Serial
Further note: this post continues in the comments.

Title: Sometimes, Love Is
Rating: worksafe (minor violence against a knight of Byzantium and that’s it)
Titles: “He is NOT my boyfriend!” and “You may not see it, but I do“
Notes: It’s been a while since we put some canon dialogue through a blender, hasn’t it? I have made two poetry kits out of stuff Buffy says about Spike and her relationship with him. Since I have already done a kit focused on love confessions, these kits are more about the other things that caught my eye in the Spuffy section of the Buffyverse Dialogue Database. I cordially invite you to clicky the links and play with Buffy’s words if you have a few minutes to kill:
Kit 1: He is NOT my boyfriend! (PG-13, there’s a bunch of violence-related words in this one)
Kit 2: You may not see it, but I do
Title: In a Band
Era/season: s2, “Becoming”
Title: Some Kind of Cuddling Relationship
Era/season: s7, Touched
I heard that making art with your hands is supposed to be a grounding activity, so I’ve been playing with a watercolor kit and also an ink pen and a delightful metallic marker. Can confirm, doodling stars all over this thing was incredibly relaxing.
Title: Improved “Something Blue” mood theme
Notes: I’ve tinkered with the mood theme I posted for the fall round: added some more moods:
It’s my day! o/
Title: Buffy as Artemis, Spike as Actaeon
Pics (worksafe, but warning for canon visuals of Spike getting mauled by love):
Title: Something Blue mood theme 1.0
Notes: To get the ball rolling, I can share the Dreamwidth mood theme I’m suddenly working on. It’s at the stage where it’s only just functional. I hope to add, like, expansion packs later and maybe upgrade the whole thing to GIFs.
Titles: Five of Cups, Queen of Wands
Worksafe? – Probably.
Notes: I did a Tarot reading based on Buffy’s questions to Tara at the end of “Dead Things” (Why do I let Spike do those things to me? etc.), and the plan was I’d then make a Spuffy version of each card in the spread. I only managed to make two pieces of artwork, which might be for the best, as Spike’s presence would be even fainter in the other three.
Title: Haikus Illegal in Several States
Setting: Something Blue
Rating: rated R for language, smut-adjacent crack, and illegal activities
Word Count: around 500.
I’ve wanted to write this concept since 2016.
It’s a Hidden Gems Secret Santa gift for stuffnonsense, who asked for a series of interconnected haiku.
I set my string of Spuffy haiku in Something Blue, because it’s not like that has been done before, in this very community, excellently.
Many thanks to the_wiggins for awesome beta help!
Title: Editable World Map of Spuffy Fic Recs
Notes: I wanted to make a playground for something collaborative, but I’m bored with online magnetic poetry kits – though I would play if someone else made a kit. ;)
So, instead, I lifted the format off of something unrelated to recs that OffYourBird did in the Elysian Fields Facebook group, and I mapped the settings of some Spuffy fic I have recced in the past. For example, “One Gazelle in All the World” by baphrosia takes place in the Serengeti, so I stuck a pin in Serengeti National Park and put the fic title and author in the description.
So. Theoretically, one could use the map to find fic recs based on setting. Travel the world with Spuffy, so to speak. :)
Title: Happy and Romantic Season 6 Banners
Notes: It’s already Sunday where I live, so it’s our second free-for-all day, and I’m here with my artistic vision of season 6 as a kitten cuddle pile! Okay, that’s only the second banner. The first is romantic but not happy.
Both banners are based on the lyrics of “Counting Stars” by OneRepublic, and mayybe I wanted to try song-inspired artwork because of that cool challenge on BuffyForums.
This is banner number three and four that I have ever made in my life. I’m having a ton of fun figuring out how you even edit an image. *g* Concrit would be welcome!
Title: The Spuffiest Words
Rating: NC-17 to be safe
Link to poetry kit: HERE
I was going to make a poetry kit in honor of “Some Assembly Required”, but then I started thinking it should be SPUFFIER, and I went off on a tangent trying to find which words are The Most Spuffy, using a few pages of AO3 and an online word frequency counter. This word-rearranging poetry kit contains approximately half of my results. :)
Title: Spuffy poem recs: light/darkness imagery
A/N: For this free-for-all day, I’ll make a rec post to celebrate our new tag, “form: meta/recs”. I am certain that I’m only scratching the surface of the category I chose. Say, what are your favorite Spuffy works that involve night/day or light/darkness? We could rec all day…
Title: 11 cinquain poems
Season: 2 and 5-7, but mostly 6
Rating: G, I think
Spike/Other warning: temporary Spike/Drusilla.
A/N: This post brought to you by the BtVS cinquains of dawnofme, though I tried (vaguely) for a different variation of the form.
OffYourBird kindly helped me make a couple of these less cryptic. <3
Shoutout also to the_wiggins, whose useful comment on a different work made me stop and look at one of these and think, ‘Hey, this could be less convoluted’. You can thank thewiggins for not having to sprain your brain as you read, I hope.
I always appreciate feedback, including about things that don’t work so well.
Title: Becoming poetry kits
Rating: PG-13 (potentially)
Notes: You know the drill! Let’s rearrange the dialogue of Becoming until it Becomes something else.
Links to poetry kits:
To play with the full text of Buffy and Spike’s conversation from ”Hello, cutie” to ”Let’s get inside”, go here.
To try another Becoming kit that is enhanced with things like Latin and rhymes, go here.
Title: DeLuxe Instant GenderBender
Setting: s5 between The Replacement and Out of My Mind
Summary: So maybe that bottle Spike had won in a poker game wasn’t liquor. So maybe he should have made sure before drinking the whole thing. Nobody’s perfect.
What a quiet weekend so far. :) To those who are still writing/making art/editing, good luck! You can do it!
halincandenza kindly beta-read this once, but I rewrote half the thing afterwards, so who knows what may be wrong with it now! Read if you dare.
The other Femme!Spike ficlets turned out not to be Spuffy, so I’m not going to post them here. The whole set, including the final version of this one, will eventually be here: AO3, LJ, DW.
I’m here to learn (that and make weird things happen to Spike), and I’m a big fan of feedback. If nothing about this was off, I’d be most surprised. Feel free to disagree – let’s talk about Spike and gender and stuff. :)
