Vid: Now Might Be A Good Time For Something Heroic

Title: Now Might Be A Good Time For Something Heroic

Creator: flowspuffy

Era/season/setting: Season 5

Rating: PG

Notes: Two years ago I made a Playmobil Spuffy couple for Seasonal Spuffy. They lived happily on my bookshelf ever since but as of late, they have started complaining about the quietness of their lives. They really wanted to go out and fight some baddies. So, I gave them a Winnebago and some Knights of Byzantium and made a Playmobil stop motion film (with the invaluable assistance of both my sons who know more about Playmobil and video making than I do). I hope you enjoy it.

Vid: Spuffy Abridged

Title: Spuffy Abridged
Creator: Double Dutchess
Era/season/setting: All of ’em!
Rating: Same as the show (I guess that’s R?). Expect an overview of ALL of Spuffy, not just the highs but also including the lows.
Notes: This vid was inspired by the classic Buffy the Vampire Slayer Abridged vid by Rowena. A Spuffy version seemed to fit the “Celebrating 25 Years” theme pretty well.

I’m sorry if your favourite scene hasn’t been included; it’s hard to cram 11 seasons of Spuffy into less than 2 minutes, so some sacrifices had to be made. Thumbnail clipart (film reel) is from pixabay, the rest of the credits are at the end of the vid!

Spuffy Christmas home video

Title: Spuffy Christmas diorama home video
Creator: double_dutchess
Form: other art
Era: comics, S10/S11
Rating: worksafe

I didn’t have time to make something really new, so instead, I spruced up last year’s Christmas diorama a.k.a. peep box. I added lots of nice little presents and some other stuff, making it 5 times as Christmassy. And then I made a proper short home video of it. (You can see it’s a home video from the shakiness. A professional camera person I am not.)

Sorry, I’m having a terrible time getting the embed to work, so here is just a link to the video:

Merry Christmas Spuffy home video 2021.mp4 from Double Dutchess on Vimeo.

The comics art I used is by Rebekah Isaacs and Megan Levens.

The background music is Merry Christmas Baby by Bruce Springsteen. It’s a rocking song and I assume it would be Spike-approved. Listen to it in full here.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Video: Fire

Title: Fire
Creator: Double Dutchess
Rating: possibly not entirely worksafe due to some Spike nudity and sexy scenes, but mostly just kissing (lots of it)
Notes: this round’s theme reminded me of “Fire” by The Pointer Sisters, which to my amazement no one seemed to have used yet for a Spuffy fanvid. To me, the lyrics just scream Spuffy, and I thought it was nice to do a vid from Buffy’s pov for a change. Also, it’s just a great song!

Credits:
For the frame, I used this fire frame by Ben 3D.
For the flames, I used the fire background (no sound) by Mystic Sea.
Also, I made grateful use of this Fire with lyrics video.

Vidlet: Whatever It Takes

Title: Whatever It Takes
Creator: thenewbuzwuzz
Rating: worksafe (some canon violence)
Summary: What Spike would do for Buffy.
Notes: Hello, friends! <3 I have a tiny 30-second video for you, set to the chorus of Whatever It Takes by Imagine Dragons. If the editing looks a bit rough, that’s because this time last week I thought it would be a gifset.

Video: Truth or Dare

Title: Truth or Dare
Creator: Double Dutchess
Rating: R. I’ll follow thenewbuzwuzz‘s example, and say that this should be rated 15+ for “moderate sex” because it has scenes from Dead Things in it. Actually I’m not sure I’d call it “moderate” in this case — at least not in terms of quantity. I crammed quite a lot of it into this vid :-)
Other notes: Many thanks to the mods for all their hard work, and to all my fellow contributors so far. If I haven’t commented on your entry yet, I will be checking it out soon, now that I’ve posted mine.

Vidlet: Take Me Over

Title: Take Me Over
Creator: thenewbuzwuzz
Notes: Happy Seasonal Spuffy, all! I am more thankful than ever to past, present & future mods and everyone else who keeps this beautiful community alive. <3
I have for you a tiny 20-second vidlet based on a snippet of a song by the band Red.
It includes part of Buffy’s dream from “Dead Things”, so, like the season 6 DVD, I guess it’s rated 15+ for “moderate sex”. :)

Happy Anniversary! Omg how old am I?

First of all, happy anniversary to everyone! Omg fifteen years! I know it’s a difficult year but you are in the right place. You could travel back in time with those posts and relive it all again, the effort you dedicated, all your creative work, every message of support, all that fun we share every round, there’s so much love around, you have been extraordinary. I really believe it, thank you so much I think after all, we’ve been immensely happy here and I can only be grateful.

And of course if you have been going backwards in that great orgy full of love, happy 20th anniversary of Fool for Love too! It’s a perfect time to stop for a moment because we only had one episode like this in the whole show and we can’t let it go so fast. Please don’t get me wrong, I love too many episodes for different reasons, I can’t decide which one I prefer, I have a natural tendency to contradict myself but maybe it’s the exception. I didn’t have time yesterday but it’s my posting day and I’m going to take advantage of it. Yes please, you can do it with me right here. After all, you actually do it all the time. In fact, I think we have been talking about Fool for Love for years without thinking it. So under the cut I will not try to wash your mind, it’s not necessary, we’ve been doing it ever since we saw it.

Buffy and Spike’s bedroom peep box

Title: Buffy and Spike’s bedroom peep box
Creator: Double Dutchess
Form: other art
Era: comics, S10/S11
Rating: safe for work

It’s lucky that it was (almost) the longest day today, because I needed all of it for the Spuffy project I got myself into! The original idea I had was to make a peep box (the shoe box kind) of Buffy and Spike in their bedroom from the comics; it ended up as a mix between a peep box and a cardboard model.

Interactive poetry kits: “He is NOT my boyfriend!” and “You may not see it, but I do”

Titles: “He is NOT my boyfriend!” and “You may not see it, but I do
Creator: thenewbuzwuzz

Notes: It’s been a while since we put some canon dialogue through a blender, hasn’t it? I have made two poetry kits out of stuff Buffy says about Spike and her relationship with him. Since I have already done a kit focused on love confessions, these kits are more about the other things that caught my eye in the Spuffy section of the Buffyverse Dialogue Database. I cordially invite you to clicky the links and play with Buffy’s words if you have a few minutes to kill:

Kit 1: He is NOT my boyfriend! (PG-13, there’s a bunch of violence-related words in this one)
Kit 2: You may not see it, but I do

Vid: Please, please, please

Title: Please, please, please (let me get what I want)
Creator: Double Dutchess
Format: video
WARNING: contains clips from Seeing Red. Also, references to “Spike/Other”.

This is Spike’s very own “pity ditty”, set to a song by The Smiths. (A lovely song, but most importantly, a short one!)
Not related to the theme, but made specifically for this round of Seasonal Spuffy.

Customize your own Playmobil® Spuffy – a DIY tutorial

Title: Customize your own playmobil Spuffy – a DIY tutorial
Creator: flowspuffy

I have seen regular or customized Funko Pop Spuffy and also customized Lego Spuffy but I haven’t come across Playmobil Spuffy yet. Playmobil is a huge thing for kids here in Germany, about as huge as Lego is. There are some kids who are either Lego-kids or Playmobil-kids but my little one generously plays with both and has the equivalent of a small toy department’s warehouse stored in his room. However, for this tutorial, I only used one Lochaber axe out of his stock and it was given freely to me. I bought the rest of the figurines from various sellers on eBay local. I am sorry to have to admit that at least one figurine and also a kitchen knife were severely harmed during the process. We all know Buffy is a complex character. I needed three different figurines to create a remote likeness.

Video/artwork: Biffy and Spikey

Welcome to the Biffyverse! Those of you who tuned in for this year’s summer_of_giles  already had a little preview. This video was inspired by Tribel from BuffyForums, who wanted a Miffy style fanvid. I had no time to make a fully animated video, so instead I tried to recreate the children’s picture book experience. The other inspiration was the “flavour” prompt on my card.

I hope you enjoy my little “Spiffy” picture story.

Editable World Map of Spuffy Fic Recs

Title: Editable World Map of Spuffy Fic Recs
Creator: thenewbuzwuzz
Notes: I wanted to make a playground for something collaborative, but I’m bored with online magnetic poetry kits – though I would play if someone else made a kit. ;)
So, instead, I lifted the format off of something unrelated to recs that OffYourBird did in the Elysian Fields Facebook group, and I mapped the settings of some Spuffy fic I have recced in the past. For example, “One Gazelle in All the World” by baphrosia takes place in the Serengeti, so I stuck a pin in Serengeti National Park and put the fic title and author in the description.
So. Theoretically, one could use the map to find fic recs based on setting. Travel the world with Spuffy, so to speak. :)

Interactive poetry kit: The Spuffiest Words

Title: The Spuffiest Words
Creator: thenewbuzwuzz
Rating: NC-17 to be safe
Link to poetry kit: HERE
Notes:
I was going to make a poetry kit in honor of “Some Assembly Required”, but then I started thinking it should be SPUFFIER, and I went off on a tangent trying to find which words are The Most Spuffy, using a few pages of AO3 and an online word frequency counter. This word-rearranging poetry kit contains approximately half of my results. :)
