Thank you for another round of Seasonal Spuffy from all the Spuffy fans, writers and fan artists – it’s great reading and seeing all the submissions. I have three manips, hope you like them. If anyone is interested the other two can be reworked as banners – Continue Reading
Title: Spuffy poem recs: light/darkness imagery
Author: thenewbuzwuzz
A/N: For this free-for-all day, I’ll make a rec post to celebrate our new tag, “form: meta/recs”. I am certain that I’m only scratching the surface of the category I chose. Say, what are your favorite Spuffy works that involve night/day or light/darkness? We could rec all day…
Become
By day, she was Anne.
Anne had seen it all; no skeezy guys with groping hands could surprise her.
Anne had done it all; no writing bodies on packed dance floors could interest her.
Anne had heard it all; no gentle words of love could reach her.
Anne was impenetrable; her flimsy uniform armoured her against a world filled with pain.
Anne was alone.
By night, she was Buffy.
Buffy really had seen it all; seen the monsters that most believed were mere fantasy.
Buffy really had done it all; done terrible things in the name of saving the world.
Buffy really had heard it all; heard the lies that love made you believe.
Buffy was shattered, the certainty of youth and love falling in tatters around her, leaving her defenseless.
Buffy was alone.
Became
By night, she was Slayer.
Slayer had seen it all; nothing hiding in the shadows could frighten her.
Slayer had done it all; nothing was beyond her ability to kill.
Slayer had heard it all; nothing was real or true or worth listening to.
Slayer was strong; her body honed to a razor’s edge that inflicted only pain.
Slayer was alone.
By day, she was Buffy.
Buffy really had seen it all; seen the pain that only life can cause.
Buffy really had done it all; done impossible things at unfathomable cost.
Buffy really had heard it all; heard honesty in lies and deceit in promises.
Buffy was weak, her heart torn apart by those who claimed to be defenders.
Buffy was alone.
Title: Becoming poetry kits
Rating: PG-13 (potentially)
Notes: You know the drill! Let’s rearrange the dialogue of Becoming until it Becomes something else.
Just like usual, I ended up with something short, weird and unbeta’d. I hope it makes someone out there laugh. Thank you for all the wonderful offerings we’ve had this past month!

Title: the opposite of a genderswap
Author: thenewbuzwuzz
Setting: AU season 4 or 5, but it doesn’t really make a difference in the text.
Rating: T for body parts.
Notes:
I suspect this isn’t, properly speaking, a drabble. It’s more like a teaser (and so am I). This is a 100-word epilogue to a set of ficlets I’m working on. The entire relevant backstory is that Spike has been stuck in a female body (as Spike does), and he’s now transforming back.
If that one line sounds like “Doomed”, that’s because it is.
Posting fic end first is not the most sensible idea I’ve ever had, but I really wanted to finish something that’s made of words. And it’s separate from the rest of the set anyway. So here we are.
Title: Poetry kits: Halloween and I-love-yous
Creator: thenewbuzwuzz
Notes:
Hey, dear spuffins! I made you more poetry kits! Let’s mess those episode transcripts up.
Links to poetry kits:
To bring out the inner Spuffiness of “Halloween”, go here.
To play with some (really, only a few) Spuffy I-love-you quotes, go here.
Title: Not a Spectator Sport
Creator: thenewbuzwuzz
Setting: School Hard (as material), indeterminate (as actual setting)
Rating: PG-13 (potentially)
Notes: Okay, I’m opening, but I’m opening with a thing that people can participate in.
You know how I sometimes mutilate shooting scripts? This isn’t one of those times. This time, I invite *you* to mess with a transcript. Instructions are under the cut.
Art without a story today.
Good morning! *beams* It’s a beautiful day to ship Spuffy.
The idea: Because any Buffy script can be Spuffy if you read between the lines. ;)
Thanks: to the mods for making the whole thing happen; freecat15 for encouraging me; the absent tumblr user alightintheswamp for betaing the “Welcome to the Hellmouth” poem.
Explanations & excuses: The poems are NOT set during the episodes that the words are from. I’ve included text versions and two kinds of clickable image versions, so if you want you can try and read the classic blackout way, or look at where the words came from. I ignore capitalization for the text versions, and I messed with the unused parts of the text a little so that the images wouldn’t be too huge.
Rating Tagging NC-17 in case, for mentions of sex.
Medium: blackout poetry.
Other pairings: not intentionally. I’ve stretched the name “Will” to mean William the Bloody in one line, so if that doesn’t work for you, it’s a Willow/Buffy poem. I hope it does work for you.
Disclaimer: All the words were written by Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt. I merely selected the ones I like best. The only pay I’m after is attention.
Angel had said that the lobby in the Chelsea Hotel was something to see. Dawn wondered, as she walked up Sixth Avenue, passing the old department store buildings that housed TJ Maxx and Bed Bath & Beyond—so normal, nice and normal—what that was going to turn out to be. A hotel where vampires were habitués.
I’m delighted that two things happened to make this story possible: The mods here added a posting day at the end. And a reader on A03 left a comment on another fic of mine, Not Dead, which made me realize there was sequel potential there. So, herewith, a sequel to Not Dead.
A third thing that happened to make this story possible is that rebcake did an excellent beta, which improved this hastily-written tale no end.
I recommend reading or rereading Not Dead first, but if you don’t, the basic premise is that it’s been five years since Buffy’s been missing presumed dead. Except Dawn knows she isn’t missing presumed dead. Her sister is a vampire, and she’s with Spike.
Hi All! I had hoped to have the entire chapter to post today, but I’ve been revising this right down to the wire, and the last few scenes are not quite ready for prime time yet. And the first half is where all the Spuffy action is anyway.
My thanks to my incredible beta readers, typographer, slaymesoftly, the_moonmoth, feliciacraft, and ApprenticeBard — there will be a couple more names on this list when the final version goes up, and I could not have done it without any of them. Any remaining infelicities of prose are entirely my own. With no further ado…
Previously in A Parliament of Monsters:
It’s been a year since Buffy and Spike closed the Hellmouth, but life hasn’t gotten any less exciting for Our Heroes as they try to take down a duo of vampire gang bosses. Kennedy arrives on a secret mission from the Watcher’s Council, just as Tara and Willow, who’s now a vampire with a soul, are having relationship problems. Riley Finn is back in town, looking for formerly-chipped demons, one of whom is now one of Spike’s minions. And the news from Los Angeles just keeps getting worse: Angel’s lost his soul again. Or has he? When Robin Wood, on his way to deliver a mysterious artifact to Buffy, turns up murdered, Spike’s the logical suspect, at least to Riley. But nothing is as it seems, and the now-missing Slayer artifact is only one piece in a larger and more dangerous puzzle than Buffy knows…
Once again, I want to wish the members and maintainers of seasonal_spuffy a very happy 10 year anniversary! This was only the second time I’ve participated in the banner competition and I learned a lot about digitial editing and design via this project; and I picked up some skills and confidence I didn’t have beforehand. Below is a selection of my banner alts, suitable for use in a story or website project, and of course some icons to go with.
(And if you don’t like alts, or artists gabbing about “the process”, simply scroll down to the pretty icons below. Because this post might be of greater interest to other artists than the general population. Or it might not. I’m just sayin’)
Ok – I’m going to apologise in advance. I have been having computer problems over the weekend, and because I’m not sure if I will be able to get back online later I am just going to post this now. If I can get back on later, then I’ll fix any errors.
This is a bit of silliness as seems to be usual for me for seasonal spuffy and quite short. Back a while ago I wrote a piece for sb fag ends on livejournal called Bloomin Lovely and this was inspired by it. I always meant to tell the story but never found the right time.
Title: Unexpected Development
Warnings: Mpreg (sort of – you’ll see what I mean)
Rating: PG 15 for Spike’s potty mouth Continue Reading
Title: Elegies Part 1 – Words for the Faded
Author: useyourlove
Era: Post-Comics, Dollhouse-Crossover (it makes sense in context?)
Rating NC-17 (language, sexual content)
Genre: eventual post-apocalyptic crossover–see author’s notes
A/N: I feel like this whole endeavor needs some explanation. So, I spent my summer watching Buffy, Angel, and Dollhouse for the first time, and I managed to cram them all in in less than six weeks. Which, by the end of it all, led to much sleep deprivation. It was in one of those strange half-awake moments when I got the idea for this. My brain said “hey, I bet all of Joss’s worlds are really one big interconnected world. A literal Jossverse. Wow… wouldn’t that be angsty as hell?” So, in perfect Whedon Tradition, I’ve made Spike and Buffy an established, stable, and happy couple just so I can steal their happy ending from them.
First off thanks to all the people running this awesome community!
I was instructed to post this again here on free for all day (which is today! YAY) by eilowyn.
It’s just a short little spuffy video.
I hope you enjoy it. If I finish the other video I’m working on I may post again.

Buffy handed Spike his mug of blood from the microwave, then took a sip of her tea. “My dad wasn’t in Vietnam. I hadn’t really thought much about Veteran’s Day since school.”
“Remembrance Day, we call it.” Spike leaned forward, his elbows on the table. “Didn’t think much of it myself, before the soul. But I was there. Not proud of my actions. Didn’t discriminate. One side tasted the same as the other.
But those boys. Lots of them Dawn’s age. I remember them now.”
“To the troops,” Buffy said, clinking mugs.
“Lest we forget.”

By CallMeKitten AKA Kitten2you
Summary: Buffy Anne Summers, Vampire Slayer, has died to save the world and finds herself at Heaven’s gate. Saint Peter presents her with God’s judgment of her life’s deeds.
A/N: This is my first submission to Seasonal Spuffy and I anxiously await your comments. Thanks to paganbaby and ssddgr for beta’ing, and to amyxaphaniafor the gorgeous banner.
