The Gentleman Returns, Part 1
So, being without my laptop for almost three weeks meant I totally missed my posting day, in spite of the fic having been completed weeks ago. (note to self – sometimes it’s a good idea to store things in more than one place…) Thanks to gillo who so ably filled in for me that day. And extra thanks to abelina who not only was my extra set of eyes on this fic as I wrote it, but who stepped in to take over my assigned mod duties at Seasonal Spuffy this round.(Any typos on the fic are probably the result of my tinkering even as I’m posting and not a failure of Abelina’s eagle eyes.)
Anyway, it’s Free For All Day now and my fic is ready to go. I think I’ll post it in three separate posts as it’s a bit over 20,000 words and one or two probably isn’t going to do it. This fic is the fourth (and last) in a series that began with an old semi-pwp ficlet set during the Halloween episode in season 2, and continued in two other ficlets set in that same AU season 2 world. By the time the third fic ended, Spike and Buffy were realizing that their “truce” was a bit more than that. But, it was season 2, Spike was still in love with Dru and Buffy was still in love with Angel (although not real fond of Angelus…) and, yeah, a Spuffy relationship wasn’t an option. Not then, anyway. This longer fic takes place a year later.
Behind the cut are the first two chapters of The Gentleman Returns. The next two installments will go up as quickly as I can get to it.

A/N: I loved this particular scene from Dead Things in S6 and thought of it immediately when I was listening to the song behind Blue Eyes by the Who. I thought the line I’ve used is particularly suited to Spike and Buffy at this particular time. Their relationship is the wrecked house. He is still a demon who struggles to have a conscience worthy of the Slayer he loves and his love for her is drawing him out of the dark, into the light. Buffy is struggling to come back to life, to feel again, to get past the harsh reality of losing her place in heaven and the feelings that being with Spike is changing those lights from dark hysteria into the colours of life. Their relationship burns them both even as they struggle to achieve the dreams they each hold deep inside…

My last scheduled post! If you read just one piece from me today, could you please make it this one?
Far from a final version (as with any major decision I make in life I need to let it settle and “sleep on it”) but I was up until 2am this morning hashing it out, so this is very much my focus right now. It’s alternate Season 6 in the Edge of Sorrow ‘verse and Buffy has been resurrected! Not surprisingly, she’s having a hard time. But it’s no big deal, and Spike will save the day, right? I’m calling this piece simply, “Slayer, Resurrected”. Word count: 4115.
We’re getting to the plot twist at the heart of Edge of Sorrow here, with a reveal(!) at the very end on which I’m very interested in hearing feedback, because it will drive the rest of what is probably going to end up a novella-length story.

Another short scene (912 words) from a future chapter of my S6 rewrite, Edge of Sorrow, Heart of Truth, structured here as a standalone ficlet titled “Homework”, in which Dawn makes a Spuffy discovery (concerning an event covered in great detail in the S5 one-shot titled “Enough” linked from the End Notes). Fic: A Spuffy Scene in Which Spike Misses Buffy, Rated R
It just occurred to me that the two new chapters I posted of Edge of Sorrow, Heart of Truth were not particularly or even strictly Spuffy, which because I had the whole, entire story in my head, was easy to overlook.
So I give you three true Spuffy scenes from upcoming chapters of the same S6 story. No knowledge of prior chapters required (though it would be awfully nice of you to read them, *wink wink*). Again, the only key divergence from canon at this point is that Buffy and Spike had a tentative, consummated relationship in S5, prior to Buffy’s death.

Hello! I’m contributing to seasonal_spuffy for the first time this year, and very excited to be posting today. Thank you, mods and fellow participants, for making this happen!
First up, Chapters 5 and 6 of my Season ~6 rewrite, Edge of Sorrow, Heart of Truth. These two chapters, set in the summer before Buffy is resurrected, are canon-compliant and self-contained. No prior knowledge required.
Summary: Giles makes a surprising discovery about Spike in his crypt and ends up rather the worse for wear, and Willow takes on extracurricular activities.
One notable departure from canon so far: In this verse Buffy and Spike have embarked on a budding relationship in Season 5 (in a trilogy of one-shots), culminating in my first NC-17 story where they consummate said relationship. Spike is also (more) accepted by the Scoobies. Edge of Sorrow will depart further from canon later on, but I think for now that’s all that’s different.
Seasonal Spuffy – Graphics Once More With Feeling
And here we are – Spuffy in the comic books Buffy Season 10 and their “Second Chance” at sharing their lives together in a loving relationship that is based on equality and acceptance of their lives – both the light/positive and the dark/negative aspects that are part of who Buffy and Spike are. We shall see if Joss Whedon and Dark Horse will finally place Buffy on this very important new phase of her life – moving on from her earlier love experiences and allowing herself to find happiness with Spike. As for Spike- he has been loving this woman for so long but he has also made some very important changes for his own life that has taken him away from his “love’s bitch” existence and he knows that he no longer wants to live at the outer edges of her life. We shall see – but Buffy and Spike have placed “all their Spuffy eggs in the Soul Basket” and I just hope that this time they will find love together.

Seasonal Spuffy – Graphics
Another study from what I think is one of the best episodes of the entire BS6 – the triad of “Dead Things” “Older and Far Away” and “As You Were” have always, in my interpretation of the series, been more a reflection of Buffy’s dreamscape nightmare inner demons and her emotional trauma than a statement of Spike’s real world and the premise that Spike is wanting to drag Buffy into the darkness of his world. I’ve always felt that Spike is primarily reacting to the parameters and rules that Buffy set up from her first kiss in “One More With Feeling” and eventually led to the tragic events of “Seeing Red.”

After the Deluge – the WIP that just won’t die.
Today is slaymesoftly‘s posting day, but she is struggling with a poorly computer, an inept repair service and the impossibility of using tablets and phones to post anything of actual substance.
So I offered to step in, to share something I had planned to post at the weekend, when you Colonials have a Mother’s Day. Many, many moons ago now I started a post-NFA, post-Chosen story called After the Deluge. Quite a lot of its early chapters were posted to this community. One point three three recurring percent of you may even recall the fic, which had Spike and Buffy slowly moving, one from California, the other from Rome, until they finally meet in the Cotswolds, with a substantial cast of others. The last chapter I posted was Chapter 25.
Well, an MA took up a lot of time, and other writing was a distraction. But I did do more, and as it started on this comm, it seems a good place to offer it up. Spike, Buffy and the gang are in a barn in the Cotswolds, it’s dark, and The First has recently appeared to scare everybody a bit.
