Summary: Now that the first rush of being together is over, Spike and Buffy find that they still have a lot to learn about each other.
A/N: For this fic I’m moving a few things around, so assume that AtS S5 and some of Buffy S8 occurred concurrently, except there wasn’t a Twilight arc because: no. No knowledge of the comics is needed to read this fic. The action will move from Cleveland to Spain to Gibraltar. Buffy does talk about Satsu and her sexuality, though there are no flashbacks, and hopefully I’ve altered that in a way that makes their relationship and Willow’s friendship with Buffy during that time far more believable and respectful than the comics did. Beta’d by Gort and Swifthorse. I’m hoping to have the second third chapter ready to go by the end of this round. Fic: The Curious Case of the Campus Intruders (Chapter 1/5)

All About the Mission, Chapter 1

So, my plan was to keep working on this story and hope to have enough to begin posting on one of the free for all days at the end of the month, but I think I’ll put the first chapter up here today, and add the rest during the last free-for-all days.

It’s a sequel to/part of the verse I Would Still Have Loved You in which Buffy and Spike have been sent back (separately) to change season 5 so that Buffy doesn’t have to jump, or, if she does, that Willow does not bring her back. Her resurrection having caused the First Evil to rise and inflict much destruction on the world. They more or less willingly accept their mission, the situation having been sweetened by finding each other much earlier than expected.

This story begins as they near the end of summer and prepare for the arrival of both Dawn and Glory.

Sorry for posting so late – I have three manips – hope you like them – I had a great time working on them.  I have always loved the idea of having Buffy and Spike in the roles of Nick and Nora Charles and think that the snark they often engaged in would be a great fit for the Hammett characters.  SURE wish one of the outstanding Spuffy writers would be inspired to do a Spuffy version.

Notes:
I suspect this isn’t, properly speaking, a drabble. It’s more like a teaser (and so am I). This is a 100-word epilogue to a set of ficlets I’m working on. The entire relevant backstory is that Spike has been stuck in a female body (as Spike does), and he’s now transforming back.
If that one line sounds like “Doomed”, that’s because it is.
Posting fic end first is not the most sensible idea I’ve ever had, but I really wanted to finish something that’s made of words. And it’s separate from the rest of the set anyway. So here we are.
