But… not to be defeated… I’ll post fic instead. Drabbles first.

Viva Las Vegas, S/B FIC NC-17 Part 3
Hey, guys, I’m cutting it close on this one (as in I’m still working on part three). I’m going to try my best to post it by midnight, but in case I don’t make the deadline, it’ll go up on my journal tomorrow. And then I’ll go catch up on everyone else’s stuff. *g*
Millions of thanks to itmustbetuesday for organizing this!

Viva Las Vegas, S/B FIC NC-17 Part 2
All Slayers have a little bit of demon in them. Since last winter, I have a little bit more than most. It’s funny—if Giles had never tried to get me a salary, he never would have discovered all that stuff Quentin Travers was hiding about Slayer heritage. If I hadn’t already known that Slayers were part demon, I’d have totally freaked out when I went all grr in Pylea. If I hadn’t had the Pylean first-hand skinny on inner demon-ness, I would never have thought to Kobiyashi Maru the Shadow Men. None of the steps on the road from A to Kumquat look weird when you’re taking them. It’s only when you look back that you realize how very, very far you are from where you started. Continue Reading

Disclaimers: The usual. All belongs to Joss and Mutant Enemy, and naught to me.
Rating: R-ish to NC-17
Pairing: B/S
Distribution: Ask and you shall receive, I’d just like to know where it ends up.

Author’s notes: This story takes place in the same universe as “Raising In the Sun,” “Necessary Evils,” and “A Parliament of Monsters.” It’s set in the summer after POM, and contains spoilers for POM. Self-Indulgent Post-NFA Spuffy Meander
Hiya: I’m back. Erm. I’ve been fussing for a month with this fantastic piece of pr0n. The dirty parts were all lined up fine, but I couldn’t for the life of me make it click as a whole. And then two days ago I realized I was writing the wrong pairing. I was doing my damnedest to force a potentially really interesting Bangel story onto Spike and Buffy.
So, feeling bad about THAT cruel and unusual failure, I went rummaging around in my hard drive’s daunting thicket of fic grafts, cuttings and compost, and emerged with the following. It’s unbetaed. It’s not even a story. What it is is a self-indulgence—play time—me inattentively spouting one of many higglety-pigglety post-NFA fantasies, sort of the way Anna S. does sometimes, except of course that I’d sacrifice a body part for Anna S.’s command of language. It’s not very long, but there’s enough here that’s (a) pretty, and (b) unlikely to be plundered for other projects that I thought I’d set it loose. So I hope you enjoy it and forgive its copious faults. Cheers.

Fic: “Near Misses” by Quinara
Hello! Yes, this is my day, and no, I’m not cutting it fine at all. That is absolutely not the reason why I’ve had to be my own beta.*
*coughs*
Right. This is my story “Near Misses”. I can’t say it’s the most happy thing I’ve ever written, but I personally wouldn’t call it angsty. OK, so there’s a bit of angst. I wish ‘angst’ wasn’t such a melodramatic word… All right, so it’s angsty. I need to work on my classification technique…
Anyway, it’s my own idiosyncratic (ie. slightly odd) spin on the old post-A5 Buffy comes to LA plot-line, and could never be rated any higher than PG-13.
(*On that note, if you do spot any typos, please point them out to me. I’ll be extremely grateful.)
Warnings: Mental health issues (briefly mentioned)
Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear (8/8 – Pending until 12/4)
I was hoping that I wouldn’t have to do this, but my brainwaves are pretty much at an absolute standstill and part 8 needs a little more fully-cognizant love before it’s ready to be seen. More than anything, I want to do the rest of the story justice and ensure that I give Spike and Buffy the ending I think their journey here has earned them; to that end, I’m going to work on part 8 over the weekend and will have it in presentable condition in my journal on my Sunday evening (I’m on Eastern Standard Time). Additionally, I’ll edit part 7’s post at that point to include the link to part 8. My sincerest apologies for the delay.
Thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments and your support today–you’ve made my day a very, very joyful one, and I’m looking forward to answering your comments and to catching up on the entries I’ve missed as I’ve prepared Whispers. I hope to see you all at my journal on Sunday night for part 8.
I’d like to close by offering tremendous thanks to for creating this community and giving us such a wonderful haven; it’s a lovely gift.
Good night, and thanks again.
ETA: Part 8 is now posted on my personal journal () in two sections (due to length constraints). Part 1 can be found here; part 2 is linked at the bottom of part 1. Thank you.

Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear (7/8)
And the home stretch looms closer…
Part 7:
Set post-Lies My Parents Told Me, BtVS season 7. Spike’s dechipped and detriggered, but the secret the First used against him still weighs heavily. Is confession really good for the soul?
Fic – Anticipation
And here’s my second offering – a small bit of fic. Thanks for letting me share!
Title: Anticipation
Medium: Fanfic
Rating: R for language.
Pairings: S/B, allusions to B/A, B/R
Disclaimer: BtVS and its characters are not my property and this fanfic is intended for entertainment purposes only.
A/N: Set in Season 5 following Crush, and pretty much AU from there.
Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear (6/8)
Hope springs eternal… and is starting to spring here.
Part 6:
Set pre-Him, BtVS season 7. Buffy couldn’t help Cassie, and Anya’s determined to find her own way, but there’s one person who needs Buffy’s aid—if she can find a way to reach him.
Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear (5/8) (Part 2)
Continuation of Part 5:
Set during Older and Far Away, BtVS. It takes a lot of work to move from awkward silences to comfortable companionship–just how did Buffy and Spike end up playing cards the morning after her party?
Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear (5/8) (Part 1)
Heading home from work now, but wanted to leave this before I head out.
Part 5:
Set during Older and Far Away, BtVS. It takes a lot of work to move from awkward silences to comfortable companionship–just how did Buffy and Spike end up playing cards the morning after her party?
This one’s also in 2 linked parts due to size constraints.
Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear (4/8)
Halfway there, and still with the hurting. Hang in there with me.
Part 4:
Set post-Dead Things, BtVS. Buffy left Spike in the alley, battered and broken, to find his own way home before the sunrise. His healing in the aftermath, however, isn’t left unaided.
Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear (3/8)
OK… now it comes to the hurting part. Canon headed into dark territory, and there follow I; however, I promise that by the end of the series I’ll have brought it back towards the light.
Part 3:
Set post-Forever, BtVS. Joyce has passed away and been buried; Dawn’s attempted resurrection was thwarted at the last minute. Buffy, having no other choice, has gone back to business as usual, but then her patrol intersects with a vigil.
Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear (2/8) (Part 2)
Continuation:
Set post-Sanctuary (season 1 of AtS, coinciding with season 4 of BtVS).
Buffy’s just been sent from Los Angeles by Angel in the wake of Faith’s reawakening, attempts at revenge, and baby steps towards redemption. Being dismissed isn’t high on the list of things that makes for a happy Buffy, but fortunately there’s always patrol for getting rid of tension.
Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear (2/8) (Part 1)
I’m glad everyone’s enjoying this so far–thank you for the lovely feedback! And now, on to part two:
Set post-Sanctuary (season 1 of AtS, coinciding with season 4 of BtVS).
Buffy’s just been sent from Los Angeles by Angel in the wake of Faith’s reawakening, attempts at revenge, and baby steps towards redemption. Being dismissed isn’t high on the list of things that makes for a happy Buffy, but fortunately there’s always patrol for getting rid of tension.
Note: This one, for length purposes, will have to be split into two posts. There’s a link to the second part at the bottom of this entry.
Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear, Part 1 of 8
Wow… so now it’s my day. Who knew that a fall could pass so quickly?
My offering today is an eight-part story series called Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear; each installment deals with a different, canon-based moment in which Buffy and Spike have a conversation to which no one else is privy, a conversation that serves as a watershed moment in their relationship. The series spans a period beginning post-season 2 of BtVS and ending post-Not Fade Away. With each story, I’ll give a little note to orient you time-wise.
Before I go any further, I have to give proper thanks (and, well, worship, really) to jen-nsync-landl and beanbeans, for beta/proofreading/brainstorming duty extraordinnaire. The idea itself wouldn’t exist without jen-nsync-landl‘s uncanny ability to urge ideas forth from the abyss of my brain; she also has an amazing knack for whipping my ramblings into presentable shape. beanbeans, in addition to a tremendous amount of moral support and sneak-peek-reading and encouragement, was also generous enough to make icons for each of the eight stories, and I’ll use them when I post each installment. I think I would’ve given up a thousand times over without them, and I really can’t thank or acknowledge them enough for the long nights and amazing support and encouragement.
So, now… the first part of the story. (I’m shooting for updates every 2 hours, work permitting, but all 8 installments will be posted today.)
Title: Whispers in a Dead Man’s Ear (1/8)
Author: Amy B. (amybnnyc)
Setting: Throughout canon for both BtVS and AtS
Pairing: Spike/Buffy
Rating: R at most (language)
Summary: So many years, so many chances for conversation; how many whispers have passed between Buffy and Spike, and what have they meant?
Author’s Notes: This installment is set post-Becoming; Buffy’s in LA, and all-night diner clientele is nothing if not unpredictable…
fic Intermezzo 8
Now for my final entry this “season”, the last “Intermezzo”.
A/N:This couplet is set during Ats S5 so the entries are from a new diary and journal rather than ones found in Sunnydale’s ruins.
Disclaimer: Joss Whedon, ME, WB, Fox are the sole owners of all involved with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Thanks to Joss he allows us to play in his sandbox. I derive no compensation for these flights of fancy. The story concept is my “creation” as is all dialogue not in any original story script.
Literary Intermezzo Eight:
Summary: A peek into the Diary of Buffy A. Summers and the Secret, Highly Confidential Journal of one William T. Bloody,
Setting: ATS S5 before The Girl In Question
