Out of the Blue – 3

This entry is part 3 of 12 in the series Out of the Blue

*sigh* As I was afraid I would, I totally screwed up this morning and posted chapter two twice and chapter three not at all. I don’t know how to fit it in where it belongs, but if I go back and link to it from chapter two, it should work for everyone. It’ll take me a few minutes to work that out though, so if you’re calling me names and wondering where it is, just be patient. Here is the missing Chapter Three, which I will link to from Chapter Two momentarily.

Out of the Blue

This entry is part 1 of 12 in the series Out of the Blue

I’ll begin posting this rather lengthy fic this a.m. and try to finish it up this afternoon when I get home from work. And I’ll come back to fix the header as soon as I reread the guidelines and write them down so my lack of sort-term memory doesn’t cause me to mess them up.

Title: Out of the Blue
Author: Slaymesoftly
Season Four – AU post SB
Rating: Strong R
Genre: Fic

Ridiculously long AN: Very retro, very par-for-the-course post Something Blue season 4 fic. The beginning premise is based on two almost throw-away scenes from that season – the one in Pangs in which Buffy cuffs Spike almost affectionately after she ties him up, and then trails her hand across his shoulder as she walks behind him. Can’t say I noticed either of them at the time, but once someone mentioned them I went back and looked and… yeah, different sort of Buffy. And then, at the end of SB, she is staring at Spike totally without animosity or disgust – more just contemplative (until he opens his mouth). I thought those little things gave me something to build on.

Then I threw in some hints of Spike appreciation on Xander’s part (cause that’s always fun), some bonding between Spike and Giles (cause I think they could have and should have been friendlier) some Buffy and Willow girl talk, building friendship and UST between Buffy and Spike…. and yeah. Like that. If you don’t like the way the story’s going, just wait a minute and it’ll change again. LOL

It goes off canon almost immediately, with Spike being more receptive to Giles’s suggestion that maybe he was meant to be chipped so that he could change his ways, and with him becoming more of a Scooby than in canon. But if you’re willing to go with those twists on season four canon, I think it works.

Home Is Where They Have To Take You In – Chapter Three

This entry is part 3 of 3 in the series Home Is Where They Have To Take You In

The header is a lie. But here’s a link to the next chapter of Home Is Where They Have To Take You In. From this chapter on, the rest of the fic will be posted on my journal (or at DW). This is the last chapter being posted tonight, but I may have time to do another one tomorrow.

Chapter Three

Fic -Home Is Where They Have To Take You In Chapter Two

This entry is part 2 of 3 in the series Home Is Where They Have To Take You In

I think this is the last chapter I’m going to put up on the community. In the interest of not clogging things up on open posting day, I’ll provide a link to my journal and all the rest of the chapters will be up on there. Probably take me a while though – it’s a beautiful day and I want to work outside, and I need to clean house, so…

Fic -Home Is Where They Have To Take You In

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series Home Is Where They Have To Take You In

Okay, it’s open posting day and I’m following rahirah – not my favorite thing to do. Try to avoid comparisons, okay? LOL

This is a future fic that totally ignores the comics, so no issues there (except for people who want to take the comics as canon for post show stuff, in which case, just think of it as an AU fic) I’m going to post the first couple of chapters here, then shift to a link to my journal. I’m six+ chapters in to what is probably going to be a fairly long story (just based on where it is right now). Oh the up side, the chapters are fairly long, so there won’t be as many of them as there could be if they were really short. Good for readers who want to get through the story quickly, not so good for those with short attention spans. *g* The fic was inspired by some art work that kudagirl put up some time ago. I asked her if I could use her picture for a fic and she said yes. This is the result.sult.

Title: Home Is Where They Have To Take You In
Author: Slaymesoftly
Rating: No idea right now. It’s barely PG ATM, but I suspect at some point it could get raunchier.
Summary: Buffy lives in London where she and Giles are running a Slayer/Watcher school. She has found an old house that used to belong to the Pratts and has used some “found” money to buy it and refurbish it to live in. A very weak and badly injured vampire, who claims to be harmless, hides in her garden and she, somewhat to her own surprise, doesn’t stake him right away.

Making it Work, Slaymesoftly

This entry is part 1 of 5 in the series Making it Work

It’s my day! *bites nails* It’s a long story, and I have to leave for work in 45 min., so I’m not going to get it all up this morning. With luck, I’ll have most of it up before midnight, but can’t swear to it. I won’t be be home much at all today until well after 9:00 p.m. If I don’t get it all up (a distinct possibility since I haven’t finished the ending) I’ll link to it on my LJ/DW accounts. I’d do chapters at a time, but I don’t do short chapters and that might be a little too much for many readers.

Title: Making it Work (early season four)
Author: Slaymesoftly
Word count: 20,000 ++
Rating: Strong R or NC17?
Disclaimer: Joss’s characters, I just tweaked the season a little. (Okay, I tweaked it a lot. Don’t sue me!)
Summary: Continues from two Schmoop Bingo ficlets (I’ll provide links as soon as I have time) in which a drunk Spike comes to Buffy after Dru has kicked him out again. He thinks he wants to fight her, but ends up realizing that’s not what he wants at all… In this fic, they find that their situation may not be all that unique. The question is, can an unchipped, unsouled formerly evil vampire contain his demon well enough to suit the Chosen One? Can they make it work?

Final Chapter of WTIHM

This entry is part 9 of 9 in the series When the Ice Has Melted

And here it is – the final chapter. My apologies to readers of the prequel who may have been expecting a lot of sex at some point. That wasn’t what this fic was about. It’s possible I’ll revisit this AU Season V and get Spike and Buffy back into bed, but it’s not a priority for any of us right now. :)  Continue Reading

Chapter Seven of WTIHM

This entry is part 7 of 9 in the series When the Ice Has Melted

Gah! I did it again! I shouldn’t try this while in a hurry. Trying this chapter again…

Now that I’ve straightened out where Ch. six went… Moving right along. I hope to get them all up now, but I have to leave in 1/2 and hour, so it may or may not happen. If not, I’ll be back in a few hours and finish it off then. Moving along, Buffy and Spike head for a Scooby meeting.  Continue Reading

When the Ice Has Melted

This entry is part 1 of 9 in the series When the Ice Has Melted

Okay, if I lived on an island in the middle of the Atlantic (or maybe just off-shore), it would already be tomorrow, so I’m going to jump the gun just a tiny bit and start posting my fic before I go to sleep. This way, I’ll be able to do more posting before I leave for work in the morning, and finish it up when I get home in the afternoon. That’s the plan, anyway.

So, here is my offering for this round. It’s pretty ordinary and kinda retro for me. I’ve been mostly playing in various possible futures lately, but this is a Season Five AU fic that follows a non-canon pwp ficlet about an encounter between Spike and Buffy. Thanks are owed to eowyn_315 who read the beginning of it a long time ago when it was just a bunny and smacked me around until I cleaned up the most egregious of the canon issues (Not all of them, I’m sure. Don’t blame her – she tried!) And more thanks to my two wonderful betas, alwaysjbj and just_sue who had to read the whole thing and catch my other errors and inevitable typos. Any further mistakes are probably due to my incessant fiddling, so give me a holler if you see anything amiss. Please. :)

Title: When the Ice Has Melted
Author: Slaymesoftly
Word count: 24,000 + or – (Nine Chapters)
Disclaimer: Joss’s characters, my twist on his Season V
Summary: a sequel to my little pwp – How Can Something So Cold Make Me So Hot? in which Buffy found to her surprise that Spike knew just how to cool down her sunburn. All you really need to know about that ficlet is that Ms De Nile and Mr Big Bad found themselves willing to use any excuse to give in to urges neither one really knew they had. I don’t think it’s necessary to read that first, but it’s short and smutty so if that’s your thing…  Continue Reading
