Fic – Nocturnal Emissions – Chapter Seven

This entry is part 7 of 11 in the series Nocturnal Emissions

Fic: Nocturnal Emissions

Author: Miss Murchison

Rating: NC-17

Summary: Buffy thinks Spike has a problem. Spike thinks Buffy is jealous and needs a nap. As you can tell from the title, I have not been guilty of good taste.

No familiarity with the previous stories is needed, but this is set in the same ‘verse as Cubed, What’s in a Name?, If it’s Tuesday, this must be Sunnydale, and Giftless.

This is an alternative Season 6 where there is no angst. Assume Buffy didn’t die at the end of Season 5, or, if she did, she was glad to get back. Don’t go looking for any huge problems among the canon characters. They’re not there, although all is not sweetness and light. Which is good, because we all know how bad light is for Spike.

Length of completed story: About 9,000 words

Thanks: To my wonderful betas, keswindhover and revdorothyl, to enigmaticblues for the comm, and to my family for leaving me alone long enough to finish this story. Maybe they’ll repeat the favor so I can finally enjoy the other entries from this round.

Disclaimer: All characters are the property of Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, etc. Only the lame plots and dialogue herein are mine.

Later that day, Buffy came downstairs looking for Willow and Tara. She found them drinking tea in the kitchen. “How’s Spike?” Dawn asked immediately.

“Okay, I guess. Xander and Anya agreed to watch him for a few minutes, after I made Spike promise he wouldn’t kiss Xander.”

Dawn grinned. “But I’d love to see that again. In fact, we should film it. You should have seen Xander’s face when Spike planted a big one on his lips!”

Buffy’s attempt at smiling failed when Willow asked, “Uh, how’s the, you know, working?”

Buffy shrugged. “It’s keeping him in a state of nocturnal remission at the moment. Except he keeps grabbing at that thing and waking up, so I don’t think he’s getting any real rest.”

“Maybe one of the other belts would work better?” Willow reached for a book lying on a table. “Or we could go with a potion. I’ve found a bunch of anti-aphrodisiac recipes, but if they’re anything like normal tranquilizers, we’ll have to really raise the dose for them to work on a vampire.”

“I don’t like the idea,” said Tara. “I’m not sure what the side-effects of a really strong dose would be. I don’t see how we could focus it enough to just keep him from getting an erection without depressing his brain functions so much he wouldn’t be able to dream.”

“So it’s true.” Buffy grinned reluctantly. “His cock is totally more powerful than his brain.”

Dawn broke in. “Look, guys, it’s not that the subject isn’t interesting, and I know I asked to be involved in research and stuff. But I’ve kind of gotten used to thinking of Spike in a sort of brother-sister way, and this is really squicking me out. Can we please talk about something besides his penis for a while?”

“Sorry, Dawn.” Buffy shook her head. “Anyway, I think we’ve got hold of the wrong end of…that is, we’re not going at this the right…I mean, we should try something else entirely.”

“Like what?” Willow set her book aside.

Buffy stood up and began to pace. “I want to fight that thing. It’s real, I felt it. I should be able to kill it.”

Tara shook her head. “It never completely manifests in the waking world. You can’t kill it on this plane.”

“Then I catch another flight. Find me a way to get into Spike’s dream.”

Tara and Willow exchanged glances.

“Come on,” Buffy urged them. “If some invisible slut can find a way in, then you can find a way to transport me there too. Preferably with some nocturnal munitions in hand.”
