Okay, it’s open posting day and I’m following rahirah – not my favorite thing to do. Try to avoid comparisons, okay? LOL

This is a future fic that totally ignores the comics, so no issues there (except for people who want to take the comics as canon for post show stuff, in which case, just think of it as an AU fic) I’m going to post the first couple of chapters here, then shift to a link to my journal. I’m six+ chapters in to what is probably going to be a fairly long story (just based on where it is right now). Oh the up side, the chapters are fairly long, so there won’t be as many of them as there could be if they were really short. Good for readers who want to get through the story quickly, not so good for those with short attention spans. *g* The fic was inspired by some art work that kudagirl put up some time ago. I asked her if I could use her picture for a fic and she said yes. This is the result.sult.

Summary: Buffy lives in London where she and Giles are running a Slayer/Watcher school. She has found an old house that used to belong to the Pratts and has used some “found” money to buy it and refurbish it to live in. A very weak and badly injured vampire, who claims to be harmless, hides in her garden and she, somewhat to her own surprise, doesn’t stake him right away.

Watch your step: things can get a bit hard to navigate, between the whitewater rapids of the River Denial and the deep canyons of Attempts at Introspection (and watch out for the quicksand of random fantasies that tend to pop out of nowhere—they’ll suck you in!). And your tour guide most likely won’t be of any help: most of the time, she’s not even sure what’s going on in here.

A/N: First off, this isn’t betaed, because I waited till the last moment again (I’m a horrible person). So I’ll probably keep tweaking it for a while, so don’t be surprised if you revist and something’s slightly different. And my apologies for the pretentiously meta title.

This fic is set post-S8, but I assure you that you don’t have to have read the comics to understand (or, hopefully, enjoy) it. It makes allusions to the broader plot points and themes of the comics, but I feel pretty comfortable saying that even if you don’t recognize Buffy from them, you’ll recognize her here. What I’m saying is, don’t let the comics association keep you from reading, okay?

Ring of Fire 1/5

Well, today is my day to post and I have a small fic offering. I’m posting this unbeta’d so I don’t miss my date but will replace it with the prettied up version once my spectacular and perfect Beta does her magic (since she is trying to get her own story completion ready to post I didn’t want to add to her stress). I believe it to be readable at this point so you shouldn’t have to cringe but Mary makes it just perfect and that’s how I’ll want the final version to be.

Whoops! Just squeaking in under the wire. Here’s a little “quickie” ficlet to take the place of the one I didn’t quite finish. It’s really rough, but my laptop is overheating again, so even though I had set aside the entire weekend for writing, I’ve had to do it in short, spaced-out spurts.

The other two stories are almost done, but they’ll have to wait  until the free-for-all day. I’ll also polish this one up and post it to my LJ at a later date.

I’m overwhelmed. Or possibly just tired. It is just after 3 am here. But I’ve stayed up late in order to post the first chapter of what is promising to be another epic length KnifeEdge fic. There’s something about writing Spuffy that makes me think epically huge. I’ll have a few more chapters for you throughout the day, today. At least four. Five if I get lucky.
